Die belgische E-Bassistin und Klangkünstlerin Farida Amadou tauchte Mitte der 2010er-Jahre in die Improvisationsszene Belgiens ein. Nach einem Jahr als Bassistin in der Punkband Cocain Piss konzentrierte sie sich ab 2018 auf ihre Solo-Improvisationspraxis und arbeitete mit Musiker*innen wie Thurston Moore, Peter Brötzmann, Terrie Ex oder der Poetin und Sängerin Camae Ayewa aka Moor Mother. Amadou experimentiert mit Drones und Noise-Elementen sowie Lautsprecher-Rückkoppelungen. Während ihrer Zeit bei der Monheim Triennale kam sie in Kontakt mit der Kölner Improvisationsszene. Das Ergebnis präsentiert sie auf der Cologne Jazzweek im Quartett mit dem aus Wien stammenden, experimentellen HipHop- und Jazz-Schlagzeuger und Elektroniker Lukas König, der belgischen Keyboarderin und Improvisationsmusikerin Marlies Debaker vom Kölner Improvisationskollektivs IMPAKT sowie dem Kölner Trompeter und Elektroniker Pablo Giw, der mit erweiterten Spieltechniken und elektronischer Klangbearbeitung das Improvisationsspektrum kunstvoll auslotet.

Belgian electric bassist and sound artist Farida Amadou immersed herself in Belgium's improvisation scene in the mid-2010s. After a year as a bassist in the punk band Cocain Piss, she began focussing on her solo improvisation practice in 2018, working with musicians such as Thurston Moore, Peter Brötzmann, Terrie Ex and poet and singer Camae Ayewa aka Moor Mother. Amadou experiments with drones and noise elements as well as loudspeaker feedback. During her time at the Monheim Triennale, she came into contact with the Cologne improvisation scene. She will be presenting the results at Cologne Jazzweek in a quartet with experimental hip-hop and jazz drummer and electronic musician Lukas König from Vienna, Belgian keyboardist and improvisation musician Marlies Debaker from the Cologne improvisation collective IMPAKT and Cologne trumpeter and electronic musician Pablo Giw, who artfully explores the improvisation spectrum with extended playing techniques and electronic sound processing.
